“What makes this distinctive bunch of songs so different, what sets them so apart from your typical run-of-the-mill mainstream radio hits? Everything. Jessica Einaudi’s voice touches you with an angelical, almost mystical, aura. Her music seems to come from forgotten regions of the heart.
Are these lonely piano notes coming from dreams of lost youth? Or it’s just a faint echo of a forgotten Salvation Army Band rehearsing on a rainy afternoon? Perhaps it’s just the nervous electric sweet white noise of these modern times.
These songs are about pain and loss, victories and losses. They are sung for beggars and kings, lingering between layers of life, be it joy or pain, rain or sunshine, love or fear, darkness or light. They float in space, nameless, probably lonely. Needless to say, the lyrics are there to tell you all about it.”
