Tiziano Bonini (PhD in Media, Communications and the Public Sphere, 2008, University of Siena) is a researcher into the sociology of cultural and communicative processes in the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Siena. He deals with radio, social media, digital culture, public media and audience studies. He has had articles published in international media studies magazines (Media, Culture & Society; European Journal of Communication; The Radio Journal; Communication & Society). He has published books about radio (including Radio Audiences and Participation in the Age of Network Society, Routledge, 2015) and about media and globalisation (Così lontano, così vicino. Tattiche mediali per abitare lo spazio, Ombre Corte, 2010). For doppiozero, he wrote Hipster (2014). He started in radio at the University of Siena, continuing at Radio Popolare, Radio2 Rai and Radio Svizzera Italiana. In 2005 he was awarded honourable mention at the Premio Canevascini (Radio Svizzera Italiana) for the best radio documentary. He works as a freelance writer for Rai Radio 2.
